Initial Assessment Process

from $549.64

Starting therapy is a big step, and our Progress Pathways team is here to walk alongside you and your family. We use a clear, child-centred assessment process to build a complete picture of your child’s strengths and challenges, and create a tailored plan to help them thrive.

Part 1: Parent Consultation (70 minutes | $226.97)

A dedicated video call for you and your child's therapist. We’ll learn all about your child’s story, unpack any concerns, discuss your family goals, and map out the assessment journey.
(Includes ~50 mins live video call + therapist documentation and planning after the call).

Please note: Because this session is for parents only, it is not rebatable through Medicare. However, it may be claimed through Private Health Insurance or NDIS depending on your cover.

Part 2: Child Assessment (70 minutes per session | $226.97 per session)

Interactive, play-based clinic sessions to better understand your child's strengths and challenges. Your child takes part in engaging activities and standardised tools so we can identify their unique strengths and support needs.
(Typically 1–3 sessions; includes ~50 mins face-to-face playful assessment + post-assessment scoring).

Part 3: Planning for Progress (From 30 minutes | From $97, depending on assessments completed)
Tailored Progress Plan creation. Behind the scenes, your therapist considers all information and assessment results to date to write a clear, goal-driven plan for your child's ongoing therapy.

Please note: Part 3 is non-face-to-face clinical reporting and does not attract a Medicare or Private Health Insurance rebate.

Ongoing
Therapy - Onsite

$226.97
per session

Standard sessions include 50 minutes of face-to-face therapy with your child, plus 20 minutes of dedicated clinical documentation and goal planning by your therapist after the session.

Offsite Visits

We regularly visit schools, daycares, and homes to support children in their everyday environments. Because offsite visits require travel and coordination, fees are calculated based on the total time spent preparing, travelling, delivering therapy, and writing clinical notes.

A typical local school / daycare visit may cost $330 – $390, and include a 50-minute session, clinical planning, session notes, a parent update and travel fees.

We will always provide a clear cost estimate before scheduling your first offsite visit.

Non-Face-to-Face Support

$193.99
per hour

To help your child make meaningful progress, your therapist may need to complete important work outside of your regular sessions.

This tailored support might include:

  • Team Collaboration: Communicating with you, your child's teachers, day care educators, or other allied health professionals to ensure everyone is working toward the same goals.
  • Custom Resources: Creating visual schedules, communication aids, and therapeutic home activities tailored specifically to your child.
  • Reports & Recommendations: Writing formal progress reports, NDIS review documentation, or support letters.

This work is billed in 10-minute increments at our standard hourly rate ($193.99/hr), and your therapist will always discuss any non-face-to-face work with you prior to starting.

Funding

Wondering about funding your child's therapy? Here is some helpful information.

Private Health Rebates

If you have Extras cover that includes Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology, you may be eligible for a rebate through your health fund.

How claiming works:

  1. Pay in full: You pay for your session on the day of your appointment.
  2. Receive your invoice: We send you an itemised receipt with all the clinical details required.
  3. Claim online or via app: Submit your receipt directly to your private health insurer to receive your rebate.

Item codes to check with your health fund:

  • Occupational Therapy: Initial Consultation (100) | Subsequent Session (250)
  • Speech Pathology: Initial Assessment (320) | Subsequent Session (250)

Rebate amounts vary depending on your insurer and level of cover, so we recommend quoting these codes to your provider to confirm your out-of-pocket costs.

Medicare

If your child is eligible, your GP or Paediatrician can issue a Medicare referral to help cover a portion of their therapy costs.

How Claiming Works with Us

  1. Send your referral: Provide your GP or Specialist referral to our admin team prior to your appointment.
  2. Pay in full: Pay for your session in full at the time of your appointment.
  3. Seamless claiming: We process your Medicare claim directly on your behalf so your rebate goes straight back into your nominated bank account.

Common Medicare Referral Pathways

To help you discuss options with your doctor, here are the most common Medicare plans used for allied health therapy:

  • GP Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM / EPC)
  • Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders Plan (Item 135 / Specialist Referral)
  • Medicare M10 services for complex neurodevelopmental conditions and eligible disabilities
